In the new Windows 8 or 10 desktop mode, you can still “Show desktop” function in the lower right corner of the taskbar To minimize all your open windows and go to the desktop (click the empty space to the right of the time/date field). But if you want your favorite”Show desktopFollow these easy steps to make the ” icon appear on the taskbar:
Alternative: You can also “Show desktop” icon: Add a Quick Launch bar to the taskbar.
Step 1. Create a “Show Desktop” icon.
1. Right click on the screen lower left corner and select from the pop-up menu “Desktop”.
2. Right click on the desktop and select “New > Tab”
3. Enter one of the following commands in the Location field:
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C “%appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Shows Desktop.lnk”
or
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C “C:\Users\
*
or
%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257}
Important: If you copy one of the first two command(s) above turn off and again–type quotation marks.
4. Enter a name for the label: e.g Show desktop and “Termination”.
5. Now select the icon for the new tab.
5a. Right click on the tab and select Characteristics.
5b. In the shortcut properties window, click “Ssoup” tab and “Change sign“
5c. Click the “Browse” button to the right of the “Search for icons in this file” window.
5d. Then go to “C:\Windows\System32” folder and “shell32.dll” file.
5e. Select an icon from the list of available icons “OK“.
5 f. Click on “OK” again to close the tab properties.
Step 2: Place the desktop button where you want it:
A. To place your button on the taskbar: Right click click on it and “Pin to taskbar“.
Note*: You can drag and drop the new tab anywhere on the Taskbar.
Alternative: You can also “Show desktop” icon: Add a Quick Launch bar to the taskbar.
