Outlook and Outlook Express two different mail applications developed by Microsoft to manage email activities. Outlook Express It is no longer supported by Microsoft and Outlook Express is replaced by Windows Live Mail in the latest Windows operating systems. Because of this change, many users have upgraded their email programs to Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Windows Live Mail.

Step 1. Transfer your Outlook address book file to your Windows Live Mail computer.
Note: If Outlook is installed on the computer where Outlook Express is also installed, skip to step 3.
First, transfer the Address Book (.WAB) file from a computer with Outlook Express to a computer with Outlook. For this:
1. Enable the display of hidden files on your computer:
- Switch to: Start > Control Panel > Folder options Press the & buttonAppearance” label.
- click onShow hidden files, folders and drives” &
- Remove the “Hide protected operating system files“
- Click on “OK“
2. Copy to a USB flash drive, “Address book” folder is found in the following path (default path) on your old computer (with Outlook Express installed):
- C:\Documents and Settings\
\Application Data\Microsoft\
For example, if you have a username “Admin”, then Outlook Express Address book the folder is located at the following location by default “C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\Application Data\Microsoft\Address book.
Step 2: Import the Outlook Express address book into Windows Contacts.
On a computer with Outlook installed:
1. Connect the USB flash drive containing Outlook Express Address book folder on your old computer.
2. It’s open Address book open the folder (from the USB drive) and double-click on the address book WAB file inside it. (usually a WAB file with the same name as your username on your old computer).
3. Select on the next screen Import.
4. When the import is complete, select OK.
Step 3. Import the Outlook address book into Outlook contacts.
1. Open Outlook.
2. From whom File menu, select Import and export.
3. Yes Import and Export Master in the dialog box select Import Internet mail and addresses select an option and click Next.
4. Yes Import Outlookdialog box:
- Choose Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or Windows Mail.
- Remove the mark the Import mail checkbox.
- press The next one.
5. Finally choose Termination.
(Wait for the import process to complete.)
6. When the import process is complete, select OK.
Now open your Outlook contacts.
