The following installation error on a Windows-based computer – a problem may occur when a user tries to install Google Chrome: “Installation failed. Google Chrome installer failed to start.”
The above issue may occur after the user runs the Chrome setup file (ChromeSetup.exe) and prevents Chrome from installing. Follow the steps described in this guide to solve this problem and bypass the Chrome installation error.
How to Fix Chrome “Installation Failed – Google Chrome Installer Failed to Start” Issue on Windows 10/8/7/Vista and XP.
1. At the same time “Win” 
+ “RClick the ” button to download Running dialog box.
2. Type regedit and press Enter To open the registry editor.
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, make a backup copy of the registry. For this:
- From the main menu, go to File & select Export.
- Specify the destination (for example, your Work table), give a file name (eg “RegistryUntouched”), select Export range: All and press Save.
3. After you have backed up the registry, navigate (from the left pane) to this key*:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Google\Update\Clients
* Note for 64bit OS and Windows XP:
- On Windows 64bit, navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Google\Update\Clients
- In Windows XP, navigate to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Google\Update\ClientState
4. expand the Customers button and right-click {430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D} the key. Choose Delete.
5.Then go to this key:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\Clients
6. Do the same operation and turn off the {430FD4D0-B729-4F61-AA34-91526481799D} key, if any.
7. Try installing Chrome now. Chrome installation problem should be gone!
