With fall finally arriving, we’re going to see a lot of big and highly anticipated game releases hitting the shelves pretty quickly. To get you shopping before Christmas, why not get some of the best titles coming out this year? Who says a brand new horror game or action-packed shooter isn’t the ideal gift to get your dad, mom or even your sister? Let’s take a look at these titles that are sure to make perfect gifts.

Gotham Knights (October 21)

This new title comes from WB Games MontrĂ©al is a spiritual successor to the beloved Rocksteady Arkham trilogy. While it’s not a direct sequel, it’s the first full-fledged Batman game we’ve gotten since Arkham Knight’s release in 2015. This time you won’t be playing the caped crusader, but rather his misfit band of sidekicks, the Bat Family. With Dick Grayson as Nightwing, Barbara Gordon as Batgirl, Tim Drake as Robin, and the famous Jason Todd as Red Hood, you will take over the streets of Gotham to stop many villains from the rogue’s gallery. It’s once again an open-world game with a beat ’em up and stealth focus but with a loot system this time around. You will be up against some familiar faces like Mr. So bid Gotham for Christmas!

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (November 30)

Another quarter, another Warhammer game, but this one is different from the many titles we see from Games Workshop every year. Darktide is developed by the now renowned Swedish company Fatshark! Developers of the incredibly successful Vermintide, Darktide aims to do for Warhammer 40,000 what it did for Warhammer Fantasy. A Left 4 Dead-like survival shooter puts you in the shoes of the most unwitting tools of the empire to fight against the never-ending wave of chaos and orkish troops that threaten the Imperium. This game has been pushed and teased for many years and will finally reach our favorite gaming stores. Get your bolters and chainswords ready, this game is going to be bloody.

The Callisto Protocol

This is one of the big ones for 2022, led by Glen Schofield, this new space horror game aims to be a spiritual successor to the Dead Space franchise, once also directed by Schofield. You will be put in the spacesuit of a space pilot named Jacob Lee, similar to Isaac Clarke in Dead Space, Jacob is not a warrior and must learn to fend for himself throughout the game. When he crashed on the planet Callisto, he was thrown into the high-security Black Iron prison. There he will encounter the horror of the bio side and must find every tool he can to destroy the biophage monsters and make sure he stays alive long enough to escape the Black Iron prison and find a way out of Callisto. Dead Space veterans will be delighted to see the gorgeous creature design, visceral combat, and death animations, as well as the classic over-the-shoulder perspective made famous by the Dead Space Trilogy. If you’re the type to love a little holiday angst, this is the perfect title to wrap up on Christmas Eve.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

What if you gave a license to the creators of X-COM to make a superhero game? Well, this is what you get. A fast-paced, brutal and crazy turn-based game featuring Wolverine, Ironman, Ghost Rider, Blade, and more fighting the demonic hordes as they try to take over the Marvel Universe. Made in Unreal by Firaxis Games and Marvel Games, Midnight Sun aims to give older audiences the Marvel game they want, while so much of Marvel’s content is aimed at younger audiences.

As you can see, the end of the year is full of new and interesting titles to get yourself or to complete a Christmas gift exchange. Of course, all these games are also available on digital stores, so you can save the environment and save on wrapping paper by simply gifting a code to your favorite game on your favorite DRM platform.
