If you can’t receive new emails or send an email in Outlook Express without some obvious error on the screen, you are probably facing the 2 GB memory limit problem of Outlook Express. This is because Outlook Express has a storage limit of 2 GB per mail folder. For example, Incoming, Sent, Outgoing, etc.
First of all, you should know that each Outlook Express mail folder has its own file for storing mail with the extension “.DBX” (for example, Outlook express “Inbox” folder has Inbox.dbx file for storing mail, Outlook Express has “Outbox” file. folder has an “Outbox.dbx” file to store mail, etc.)
If any of the Outlook Express files (e.g. inbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, Outbox.dbx, etc.) exceed the 2GB storage limit, you will no longer be able to work with the corresponding folder (e.g. “Inbox.dbx” file exceeds 2GB storage limit exists, you can’t work with Inbox folder and the symptom is that you can’t receive new emails, or if the “Send.dbx” file overrides the 2gb storage limit, you can’t work with “Sending” and the symptom is that you can’t send an email and so on). This is because Outlook Express cannot place new messages in the corresponding folder.
This tutorial will show you how to easily solve (fix) Outlook Express 2 GB limit problem.
How to solve Outlook Express 2GB limit problem:
Note: In this example, we cannot receive new emails because the Inbox.dbx file (Inbox) has exceeded the 2 GB storage limit.

Step 1. Find the Outlook Express Store folder.
How to find the Outlook Express store folder:

Step 4. Recreate the deleted folder (Inbox) and then restore (import) your emails from the backup location.
1. Open Outlook Express.*
Note:* When Outlook Express opens, it recreates the deleted folder (for example, inbox.dbx) with a new, empty folder.

6. Go to the location where you copied (backed up) the Outlook Express folder in step 2 (for example, Disk C:), select that folder and click “.OK“
7. After selecting the Outlook Express backup folder, click the button. The next one“.
8. Select the Outlook Express folder that you deleted in the previous step (for example, Inbox) and click “The next one“

10. Usually, after the import operation is complete, you should be able to view all your e-mail messages again and Outlook Express should work without problems.
In order to avoid this problem in the future, the best way is to create different folders in Outlook Express and organize/store the necessary emails in them.
